Intent of laws regulating nursing practice :

The Nurse Practice Act (NPA) is located in the California which has laid down certain laws and responsibilities of the registered nurse. According to the NPA , the nurse has to complete a required standard of education and practice to become the registered nurse. This ensures the quality of health care to the patients and their safety. It also bought the licensing standards.

Standards guiding nursing practice :

ANA , American Nurses Association has set the standards of nursing practice which comprises of nursing assessment, diagnosis, interventions with rationale along with evaluation. These help as a guide to the nurses in caring for their patient and since it is universal it is well understood among the nurses from different countries or even continent and there is no confusion regarding the care of the patient.

These are the major differences between the intent of laws and standards of guiding nursing practice.

Thank you.
