Ethics in Business and Accounting Question
Do you think that companies should have an ethical or legal
responsibility to show the total price that you will pay in the
initial advertisement?
Can you think of any potentially important technologies that
have languished because they have lacked political support? How
would you suggest a better system for managing technologies?
With the rise of technology, many companies have gone to the
Internet to find financing for their business. For this question,
research two "non-traditional" forms of financing and provide their
pros and cons.
Ethics in Accounting and Business Question
Can you think of an example you have personally witnessed in the
workplace that could have been means for blowing the whistle? Why
did you or did not? Why do you think people refrain from blowing
the whistle even if they see abhorrent actions in their
workplace?
What incentive do for-profit companies have for corporate social
responsibility (CSR)? If companies are focused on increasing their
profit, why should they be concerned with CSR activities that are
likely to raise costs (thus reducing their profit). Is
there value in CSR, and if so how do companies capture that value?
In other words, can companies leverage CSR activities into
increased profit?
Can you think examples of companies that strive to make a
difference in their community or in the world at large? Do you
believe that this is just another marketing strategy or is it
possible, in your opinion, for a business to embrace moral,
political, and social principles?
We always seem to be focused on using statistics in Business
decisions. Please think of some ways you can use statistics in your
own decision making. For example, when we go on vacation as a
family, we choose between many different types of travel. Using
statistical analysis, I am able to come up with different pricing
options.
Think about and then discuss the following quote: "Because they
are dynamic and because they have great growth possibilities, the
multinational markets are likely to be especially rough-and-tumble
for the external business." Using information from the text, how
would you support this claim?
