How would changing the type of bread (fresh from a bakery, no preservatives vs. prepackaged with preservatives) affect the results of mold growth ? Describe an experiment that would test your hypothesis.”
The bread from the bakery which do not have preservatives will decay or rot quickly than the bread with preservatives.
Since addition of preservatives, increase the acidity of bread, which decrease the rate of growth of mold and it will last longer.
Growth of mold is also depend on the environmental conditions, like warm, humid weather induce growth of molds and cold temperatures reduces it.
For the experiment :-
Take four breads two from the bakery and other two with preservatives.
Place one of each (bakery and preservatives) on a open plate, it the kitchen.
Place another pair of each type of bread in the refrigerator.
Observe them after 1 week :-
You will observe that the bread from the bakery will show more mold growth than the bread with preservatives in both environment. (In refrigerator, growth will be less due to Cold temperature, but it will be more than the bread with preservatives)
