Solutions

Expert Solution

Ans6) 2 ml sugar+ 248 ml water

Explaination:

Volume of solute ie. sugar=2 ml

Sugar:solution=2:200

Volume of solution=200 ml =vol of solute + vol of solvent ie, water.

Volume of water=200-2=248 ml

So to create 2:200 solution of sugar the2 ml volume of sugar is dissolved in 248 ml water resulting 200 ml solution

Ans7)mixing 5 unit volume of 20 x starch with 15 units of water.

Explaination:

C1V1=C2V2

20x x 5 ml=5 x x V2

V2= total volume of 5x starch solution=20 ml

Total volume of 5x solution =20 ml

Volume of water=20-5=15 ml

To prepare 20 ml of 5X solution from 20x starch solution the 5 ml of 5x starch solution is mixed in 15 ml of water.

Ans8)C1V1=C2V2

V1=volume of stock(200mg/ml) solution=C2V2/C1=25mg/ml x500 ul/200mg/ml=62.5ul=0.0625 ml

All Options of ques 8 given are wrong . Right answer is 0.0625 ml so out of given option most closest answer is 0.05 ml.

Ans9)you would dissolve 4g of kcl in 100 ml of water

% W/ V =(weight of solute in gram (Kcl)/ volume of solvent(water) in ml) x100

4%W/V=(4g/100 ml) x100=4% w/v

Ans10) water

Explaination: water act as universal solvent because of i

polarity property of each water molecules which make it solvent for most of substances as compare to other solvents.
