Electronic health care records can be considered as one of the initial stags of health care transformation process where there are numerous benefits included by using EHR. The advantages of using EHR usage when compared to that of the other systems include safety, effectiveness, patient-centeredness, communication, education, timeliness, efficiency, and also equity and all these collectively can get to improve the overall care on the whole. Apart from these benefits the increased storage capacity, the information can be retrieved quite easily at any point of time can be regarded as the added advantages of EHR. The disadvantages of EHR include high startup costs, substantial learning curve, security issues lack of standardisation etc.Some policies and rules like HIPAA privacy rules can be highly helpful in protection of the patient's privacy in the information in any of the form irrespective of whether it is electronic, oral or written.
