Circumcision is a method in which the outermost layer on the tip of male genitalia called prepuce region is removed through a surgery. This method is not a mandatory for every male infant but, in some country it is a part of tradition and religious rituals. And, according to Pediatrics, there are many advantages for doing this procedure.
Removal of the outer tip most layer can help in prevention of urinary tract infection in male. And, hygiene can be improved by washing the skin near prepuce region after circumcision. This procedure can prevent bacterial invasion in kidney because, after circumcision proper washing off is possible.
After hitting adolescence, the chances of getting HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases (STD) is low for whom circumcision was done in childhood. Retraction is not affected due to this procedure, so any further inflammation in the foreskin of prepuce is also prevented.
This procedure should be done around 10 days after delivery. This procedure is doen under the influence of anesthetics. And, it is not possible to say that even after this procedure, hygiene of male genitalia is maintained by itself, so personal hygiene along with regular wash is required to prevent an infection. And, there are myths that circumcision can affect one’s sperm count and cause infertility, but it is not true.
So, if any parents or an adult male is willing to undergo circumcision he can consider all the benefits and also risks by consulting a doctor to get informed about it prior to the procedure.
