What are some reasons and factors why arguments that use enumerative induction or those that use analogical induction might fail or be weak?
Logical arguments are made up of premises (assumptions,laws,rules,widely held ideas or observations) and a conclusion.
It has 3 types.
A. Deductive reasoning : a type of logic in which one goes from a general statement to specific instance.
For example;
"all men are mortal; Raju is a man. Therefore Raju is mortal."
B. Inductive reasoning .
It derives general principles from specific observations.
Enumerative induction is a method of inductive reasoning. In this method., Conclusion is constructed based on the number Of instances that support it.
For example,
if one observed a 100 swans and all these swans are white in colour , one reaches in a conclusion that all the swans are white .
Analogical induction it depends on a comparison of instances
Reasons why arguments that use enumerative induction may fail
* Lack of good premises
* Existance of exceptions
*Lack of support from the existing premises.
* Addressing irrelevent aspects of the issue.
Reasons why analogical induction may fail
* Inability to identify relevnant similarities between the samples.
* Higher number of dissimilarities
* Irrelevence of the subject of choice
* Lack of much personal experience
