Solutions

Expert Solution

1) the weight of the patient is = 3kg

available dose = 6mg

prescribed dose = 0.5mg

the concentration is 1mg/kg= 1x 3= 3mg for 24hrs for 3 days

dilute the 6mg tablet in the 6ml of water ie, 1mg=1ml

dose required = desired dose x total volume of medicine = 0.5mg x 6ml =0.5ml

available dose 6mg

0.5ml should be administered per day for 3 days . in total 2  tablets of 6mg is dispensed.

2) patient weight = 4kg

desired/ prescribed dose = 1.1mg

available dose= 3.6mg

dose required = 1.1mg / 3.6mg =0.3 mg

concentration of drug = 1mg/kg/day = 1x4 = 4mg per day

therefore 2 tablet should be dispensed for a day

3) weight of patient = 8kg

available dose = 100mg

prescribed dose = 0.2mg q12h ie, 0.4mg per day.

total dose= 0.4mg/ 100mg = 0.004mg

concentration = 3-5mg/kg/day= 5x8= 40mg / day

total 1 tablet is required for a day.

4) weight of the patient= 4kg

prescribed dose= 7mg/ml

available dose =100mg/ml

total dose= prescribed dose x total volume = 7mg x 1ml= 0.07ml

available dose 100
