Discuss the four unique features and their implications (for mobile platforms) that must be considered when designing a mobile web presence.
First of all you can either choose for a separate design for the mobile site or you can create a responsive design that works automatically according to the device. Because of responsive design you do not have to make mobile site separately.
It is certain that most of your audience will access your site from a mobile phone. Therefore, if you don’t have a user-friendly mobile web design, you risk losing visitors.
The following are the four most unique features of mobile web design:
1. Contact Information: You should provide contact information on your website. The contact information is one of the first things visitors look for when they come to your site. While you can integrate a contact form on a desktop site, on a mobile site, you need to have directly clickable contact information. It could be direct mail address or mobile phone number.
2. Responsive Images: Since a phone screen is much smaller than a PC, you must include the option of zooming or enlarging images for a better view. If they cannot see your product image properly, they aren’t going to buy.
3. Readable Fonts and Font Size: Reading on a phone screen is stressful to the eyes. Therefore, you have to make sure that all fonts you are using are readable and large enough on the mobile screen. Choose dark text on a light background and not vice versa.
4. Fast Loading: Desktop sites are usually fast enough, but mobile sites are often neglected. When designing a mobile site, you need to make sure that it loads as quickly as possible. A website should ideally load in three seconds – or less. No matter what kind of device the user accesses the site from, it should always load quickly and smoothly.
