11) In the reaction of nitrogen gas with hydrogen gas to form ammonia gas, NH3, bow many grams of hydrogen are needed to react with two moles of nitrogen?
The balanced equation is : N2 + 3H2 2NH3
According to the balanced equation,
1 mole of N2 reacts with 3 moles of H2
2 moles of N2 reacts with M moles of H2
M = ( 2x3)/1
= 6 moles
Molar mass of H2 = 2xAt.massof H = 2x1 = 2 g/mol
We know that number of moles , n = mass/ molar mass
So mass of H2 needed , m = number of moles x molar mass
= 6 mol x 2 g/mol
= 12 g
Therefore the mass of hydrogen needed is 12g
