You will perform a history of a peripheral vascular problem that your instructor has provided you or one that you have experienced and perform a peripheral vascular assessment. You will document your subjective and objective findings, note any abnormal findings.
Check for Chronic limb ischemia -
signs and symptoms of vascular disease which is present from 14 days . history and examination focus on establishing whether Symptoms are due to pheriperal vascular disease , identifying the risk factors and seviority of disease , impact on life
Asymptomatic peripheral vascular disease -
Sings of pheriperal vascular disease are found incidentally ,when the pulse is found incapable during clinical examination during screening for cardiovascular disease
Pheriperal vascular disease may be masked in persons with low physical activity ,may show symptoms such as angina , breathlessness during excercise
Identification of risk factors - taking history of alcohol , Tobacco not only in present but also past, any cases in family members, hypercholesterolemia , history of diabetic if present how it is managed
Medical history about previous vascular interventions should be documented risk factors for pheriperal vascular disease such as cardiovascular disease,cancer ,copd
Examination of asymptomatic patient -
General inspection and systemic examination -
Check for staining on nails as a sign of cigerate smoking
Scars from previous vascular or cardiac surgery
Radial and brachial pulse should be palpated to determine rate volume rythm of heart beat
Inspection of limbs
Palpation of pulses and ascultation of bruits
Diabetic foot -check for ulceration of foot , assessment of neurological and musculoskeletal system is necessary for checking blood supply
