1 - PPI - Proton Pump Inhibitor - Eg are Pantoprazole, rabeprazole, omeprazole, esomeprazole, MOA(Mechsnism Of Action) - it acts by decreasing stomach acid production by blocking proton pump in parietal cell's .
It is most commonly drugs used in prevention and treatmentbof gastric ulcer.
2 - BISMUTH SALTS - it is a colloidal substance obtained by hydrolysis of bismuth salicylate.with antacid property it is also anti-inflammatory and bactericidal.
its mechanism of action is supposed to be complex which includes stimulation of absorption of fluids and electrolytes by the intestinal wall, anti-inflammatory action and bactericidal action of a number of its subcomponents,
3 - H 2 Receptor antagonist - Eg are Ranitidine, Famotidine, cimetidine. MOA - It block H2 receptor on gastric parietal cells resulting in decrease gastric acid production. It was commonly used drug as prevention or treatment of ulcer before PPI was brought in market.
4 - GI PROTECTANT - This included Antacid like Aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide. MOA - it makes s protective cover on gastric mucosa to prevent acidic damage bh stomach acid. It is usuallybused in concurrent. With PPIMor H2 antagonist.
