Preterm birth is leading cause of neonatal mortality and morbidity in developing and developed countries. Preterm means delivery takes place before 37 weeks of gestation.
Effect of extremely preterm birth on families and communities
Preterm birth cause short term and long term impacts oon families and communities.
:preterm birth cause financial burden to families because in preterm delivery the baby need long term hospitalization and ongoing medical care. So expenditure for these treatimentd are more compared to normal born babies.
:parents have more stress in premature born baby. Psychological impact of preterm born baby to parents is greater.
:social isolation, this is the long term effects of preterm birth. The parent need to put more care in preterm baby, so social isolation is the main problem .parents are restricted to participate in social function.
:poor work or unable to work, the preterm birth cause poor work for parents. Parents put more concentration in caring the preterm baby, so they are not participate in work, then financial problems is higher.

Effect of disparities in preterm baby
Preterm birth rates vary substantially by race and ethnicity, socioeconomic status ,maternal risk behavior,maternal stress and genetics. Preterm birth rates are high in African American and Asian women .Because of their poor socioeconomic status, mother from poor socioeconomic status not get adequate treatment and adequate nutrition .Poor socioeconomic status greater the incidence of prematurity
