You are doing research on Leukemia
Examine what went wrong with the normal cellular function to cause that neoplasm.
Explain how the cell reproduction rate and differentiation are kept within the normal range to avoid the formation of neoplasms.
Regarding this Leukemia, tell me whether you think this cancer may some day be cured.
Answer.:
Leukemia is cancer of blood and bone marrow. If affects the leukocytes or WBCs and in turn the immune system.
Leukemia happens when DNA of the immature blood cells gets Damaged. The abnormal blood cells do not die when they should have and they accumulate occupying space and stops normal cell growth.
Some genes control our cell growth into new cell and dies at night times. Certain gene help to grow and divide and still be alive are called oncogenes.
Due to chromosomal translocation the DNA damage can happen. Mutation in p53 gene causes cancer. P 53 is a tumor suppressor gene if it's activities are interrupted then it might cause cancer.
------------
To avoid formation of neoplasm the tumor suppressor gene activity needs to be controlled and cell growth needs to be correct.
Oncogenes activities should also be controlled the damage of DNA should not be allowed in the cell.
----------
Cancer can not be cured but it could be treated. That's the statement for today. But I thing it could be totally cured some day through antibody mediated treatment.
