Define role of phytoplankton in ocean floor? Why they are increasing?
Ans
Phytoplankton are submarine shops that absorb carbon dioxide emigrations in ocean. They float with currents, consuming CO2 as they do to grow. They're ocean’s food chain base, eaten by bitsy creatures that are consumed by bigger creatures. Phytoplankton also give organic matter for organisms that comprises the vast maturity of marine life. They do so by consuming CO2 dissolved in ocean water and make it more acidic.
Increase in phytoplankton biomass occurs due to retreat of ocean ice, longer growing seasons and increase in global temperature.
