Generally tropic timbers are called carbon storehouse heavyweights. timber generally breath excess of CO2 present in the atmosphere and use it to grow. But for the once 10- 15 times its seen that timbers have reached their limit to growth. This is because the trees especially in Amazon are dying more fleetly than they're growing. 

Since the campfire does more damage and perm take time to heal and grow carbon cycle is disturbed and further carbon is released than absorbed from the atmosphere.
