Cultural diffusion is defined as a process of the spread of cultural elements from one culture to another. In this process cultures become similar to one another. It leads to cultural leveling, when people come in contact with different cultures.
Cultural leveling is defined as a process by which cultures become similar to one another. Exampe: American fast food chain, such as McDonald’s, which has become recognized internationally. At the start of the company, it was recognized only by a minority of Americans. Over time other cultures have adopted the idea of the fast food chain, making it the most recognized fast food company in the world.
The concept of cultural diffusion and leveling is a positive process in the world, in that it familiarizes people from different cultures with one another, which could help them to develop new things in their culture. This concept can also be negative, in that the different cultures that exist in the world can possibly lose their individuality.
