In the following clip, Dr. James Dobson, noted Christian author and psycologist, discusses the difference between childish irresponsibility and willfull defiance, and some suggested responses to them. Using animated and real life illustrations, Dr. Dobson explores the oft-frustrating and taxing subject of child discipline. In 150-250 words, provide your reaction to the video clip. I am myself a mother of 4 year old boy, and often experience this whenever we go to the supermarket. This video was very helpful as Dr. Dobson clearly demarketed between irresponsibility an wilful defiance. This video is helpful for moms like us. Spanking is not regular activity that parents do, hence if mom warned her kid by spanking and he kept quiet, that is good. There is a need to make children good /disciplined children and it is for their own benefir which parents know. Hence spanking is not as bad as it is thought. That mom wouldn't have said no if the child would have got fruits or vegetables she refused to candies.
Wilful defiance is what most of the children try to do, they purpoesely go against paren't wish, they know that if they show some aggressive behaviour parents would listen to them eventually but in this case the parents should wilfully resent or punish kids so that their agreesiveness doe not grows. This habbit of having anything whatever the child wants can be troublesome in school or beyond home. Hence discipling kids is necessary.
This video also clearly explains that disciplining would not necessarily means spanking or scolding kids in every activity because they are kids and bound to make some mistakes.
