The Role of Traumatic Event History in Non-medical Use of Prescription Drugs among a Nationally Representative Sample of U.S. Adolescents.

• This study examined potentially traumatic events, depression, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), other substance use, and delinquent behavior as potential correlates of lifetime non-medical use of prescription drugs. The sample included adolescents from the age of 12-17 years.
• A multivariable model was used which means different variables like demographics,traumatic event history, mental health, and substance abuse variables were used to find out the outcomes.
• The results indicated that deliquent behaviour and substance use by adolescents,PTSD were associated with increased us of non medical use of prescription drugs.

Its like using drugs like marijuana,cocaine etc. The use of these drugs are being misused by the teenagers which is leading to mental illness and deliquent behaviour in them especially in those teenagers who have already experienced deliquent behaviours like any crime,attacking someone or even any form of physical violence experienced by them in their lifetime has been seen to be elevated by these non prescribed drugs.
