Describe the pathway of an oxygen molecule from outside the body to the kidneys

Solutions

Expert Solution

The journey of a Breath of Air :

Inorder to maintain our life and for our survival we need to breathe and the main component is oxygen itself. We collect oxygen from outside our body ,from the surroundings which plants produced as part of their photosynthesis . We can also artificially take oxygen in to our body in severe or breath issues.

  • * The pathway of oxygen from outside of body to inside the body :

It include the respiratory airways leading into and out of lungs plus the lungs themselves.

Pathway of air :

Nasal cavities ( oral cavity)➡️pharynx ➡️Trachea ➡️ primary bronchi (left and right)➡️ secondary bronchi➡️teritiary bronchi➡️ bronchioles ➡️Alveoli ( site of gas exchange)

The oxygen enter the bloodstream from Alveoli, tiny sacs in lungs where gas exchange takes place. The transfer of oxygen into blood is through simple diffusion. The oxygen molecules move by diffusion out of capillaries and into the body cells.

And by circulation of blood from heart the oxygenated blood comes to kidneys from right and left Renal arteries off the abdominal Aorta

Kidneys filter the blood and remove waste and extra fluid from the body and are essential for maintaining good health. What is one possible reason for kidney failure? Why would someone die if kidney failure occurs? Humans have two kidneys, but they can survive with one. Given the crucial function of the kidney, would you ever consider donating one of your kidneys to someone else? What factors would go into your decision? Hypothetically, what impact would having only one kidney...
