The ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers), is a non-profit organization established in 1975.Representing a variety of specializations including cardiac, vascular, and OB/GYN sonography.ARDMS, the globally accept standard of excellence in sonography.

The Sonography Principles and Instrumentation (SPI) using a patent-pending semi-interactive console that reproduce the controls on an ultrasound machine.

The new items display a partially completed ultrasound image and an instruction given to correct the problem with the image.

The format of testing with the exception of the new semi-interactive console items, will remain the same and will follow the existing SPI content outline.

These new types of questions, called Advanced Item Types (AIT) assess the marker knowledge, skills and abilities in a format that closely relates to clinical practice, therefore, better measure practical sonography skills.
The AITs are being delivered on a new tester platform through ARDMS’ test delivery vendor, Pearson VUE.

Before applying for an ARDMS tester to earn your particular ultrasound certification, you must first ensure you meet the requirements.
