I need to do a research paper on self-esteem and job performance. I just need some ideas to get me started
SELF ESTEEM
Self-esteem refers to a person's overall sense of his or her value or worth. It also can consiered as a sort of meassure o fhow much a person ''values, approves of,apriciates, prizes or like him or herself.
There are three types of self-esteem
Peoples with inflated self-esteem thinks that they are better than others and have no doubts about undersetimating everyone else. This is sa negative self-esteem.
People with this type of self-esteem accepts and value themselves. It is a self esteem that known to be positive.
Peoples with low self-esteem is just opposite to high self-esteem.They donot value themselves and donot trust in their posibilities ans abilities.
JOB PERFORMANCE
It is the act of doing a job which means to reach the goal or how an individual perform their role in duties.
Relationship between self esteem and jon performance
The main relationship between the self esteem and job performamnce begins early as early primary school.Studies have shown that high level of self-esteem are a strong indicator and predictor of academic achievements in the students. This is a trend that continues throughout our adult lives.Of course, this relationship works both ways.Confidene in a person's ability can improve his or her job performance and by the same token, job success can seriously boost confidence levels.
In contrast to self consistency theory's proposed main effect of self esteem level on job performance,an alternate perspective is that self esteem level maderates the effects of oter variables in the job performance. This perfective has been labeled behaviural plasticity theory(Brockner 1988),as it suggests that individuals who have low esteem is related to better performance(either school or job performance).
Thus these thoritical perceptives suggests that self-esteem level have the main and moderating effects on job performance.
