CESAREAN DELIVERY
CESAREAN SECTION is delievery of the fetus usually through a transabdominal ,low segment incision of the uterus
THE COMMON CAUSES OF CESAREAN SECTION ARE
ABNORMAL POSITIONING OF FETUS- for a successful vaginal delivery babies should be positioned head first near to the birth canal
THERE ARE SOME OTHER BABY POSITIONES SUCH AS BREECH BIRTH, SHOULDER PRESENTATION in such cases cesarean is safe
cord prolapse- it is a condition in which umblical cord slips through the cervix before the babay is born . IT IS A SERIOUS CONDITION THAT REQUIRE EMERGENCY CARE
Fetal distress- if babay is not getting adequate oxygen
PREOPERATIVE
if planned , prepare the mother and partner
need informed consent
ensure that prepoperative diagnosis are done including Rh factor
prepare to insert an interavenous line.
monitor the mother and fetus continously
pOST OPERATIVELY
monitor vital signs
provide pain relief
encourage ambulation
encourage bounding
AFTER CESAEAN SECTION MONITOR PATIENT FOR INFECTION AND BLEEDING
urinary infection-burning and pain on urination can indicate a sign of infection
A TENDER UTERUS AND FOUL SMELLING LOCHIS MAY INDICATE ENDOMETRITIS
pain,redness,or edema of an extremity may indicate thrombophelbitis.
