a heparin drip is ordered to run for 3.1 unit/min .If the concentration is 100/75 mL. how many mL/hr will you need to set the pump to deliver the order
Here the ordered dose is 3.1 unit / min
The available concentration is 100 unit per 75 ml.
So 1 ml contain 100 / 75 = 1.3 unit
In order to run 3.1 unit , it should be 3.1 / 1.3 = 2.38 ml.
Hence According to the order, 2.38 ml can be administered per
minutes .
In order to set this into the infusion pump , it would be 2.38 / 60
= 0.03 ml per hour.
Therefore the infusion pump would be set to 0.03 ml / hr
