* Calculation of mcg/ml.

1 mg = 1000 mcg.

So

50 mg = 50 * 1000

= 50000 mcg.

50000 mcg = 250 ml.

X mcg = 1 ml.

X * 250 = 50000 * 1

X = 50000/250

= 200 mcg.

* mcg/ml = 200 mcg/ml.

* Calculation of flow rate(ml/hr).

ml/hr = Volume(ml)/Time(hr).

Calculation of volume(ml).

Volume(ml) = Desired dose(D)/Dose in hand(H) * Quantity(Q).

Ordered dose = 25 mcg/kg/min.

Weight of the patient = 165 pounds.

Convert pound to kg for calculation

1 pound = 0.454 kg

Weight of the patient = 165 * 0.454

= 74.9 kg.

Desired dose(D) = 25 * 74.9

= 1872.5 mcg.

Dose in hand(H) = 200 mcg.

Quantity(Q) = 1 ml.

As per above formula

Volume(ml) of drug required = D/H * Q

= 1872.5/200 * 1

= 9.36 * 1

= 9.36 ml.

Convert ml/min to ml/hr by multiply with 60.

ml/hr = 9.36 * 60
