Question. A patient with an allergy to heparin has orders for argatroban at 2 mcg/kg/min. The patients weight is125kg. The argatroban is available in125mg/125ml concentrations. How many milliliters per hour should be argatroban infuse?

Answer. C 15ml /hr

Argatroban is ordered 2mcg/kg/minute.

Patient weight is 125kg.

So we need argatroban 125 ×2mcg/kg/minute. =250 mcg/minute.

We should convert mcg to milligrams

1 milligrams is equal to 1000mcg.

250/1000= 0.25mg

In 250mcg there is 0.25mg.

We should infuse 0.25mg / minutes

To convert per hour we should multiply with 60.

Than 0.25mg ×60 = 15mg / hour

So we need to infuse 15mg /hour

Drug argatroban available in 125 mg/125ml.

Argatroban 1ml drug should be 1mg.

15 milliliter is equal to 15 milligrams

We should infuse 15milliliter per hour.

Correct answer is. C. 15 ML /hr.
