STEAM ENGINE

It is a mechanical device that uses steam for it's operation, steam acts as in the engine as working fluid. It's basically a heat Engine.

Steam engine is External Combustion (EC) engine. Water is heated using some heat source and steam is generated, this steam applies force on piston which transmits to connecting rod and then to crankshaft for output use.The cycle used for Steam Engine is called Rankine Cycle.

A steam engine takes in superheated steam at 270 degree Celsius, and discharges condensed steam from its cylinder at 50 degree Celsius. The engine takes 50 kJ heat from the hot steam per cycle and does 15 kJ of work per cycle. (a) Whats the efficiency of the engine? (b) If someone claims that 60 kJ heat were taken in per cycle by another engine operating at these same temperatures and the engine can generate 30kJ work per cycle, do...

There are 4 main mechanisms by which antiulcer drugs work . Please explain these four mechanisms of actions in your own words, in a way that anyone - even people who have not taken this course - would understand. These mechanisms are summarized in Figure 31.4 in your textbook but remember to use your own words to receive credit for this post. (NOTE: 200--400 words)

Another type of external combustion steam engine in the Rankine cycle engine. You are told a Rankine engine will be operated in the following manner. The engine will use 0.46 kilomoles of water vapor. The water vapor is initially at 1.5 atm in a 10 m3 vessel. The water vapor is compressed isobarically to 1/10th of its original volume. The water vapor is then isochorically pressurized to 5 atm. The water is then isobarically expanded to a volume of 4.23...

At a community college, the mathematics department has been experimenting with four different delivery mechanisms for content in their Statistics courses. One method is traditional lecture (Method I), the second is a hybrid format in which half the time is spent online and half is spent in-class (Method II), the third is online (Method III), and the fourth is an emporium model from which students obtain their lectures and do their work in a lab with an instructor available for...
