Travel nurses are Registered nurses from various clinical backgrounds who work for independent staffing agencies . They are temporary staffs posted or hired in the institution whenever there is a shortage of staffs or requirement of staffs . They are hired to work in specific location for a maximum period of 13weeks in one area and move around the country depending upon where there needed.

Summary of main responsibilities

• To carry out travel health consultations and there by increase awareness of health risks related to travel.

• To ensure accurate and up to date information is used to give appropriate health advice and vaccine recommendations to meet the needs of the individual’s travel itinerary.

• To administer vaccines in a correct and safe manner having fully informed the patient and obtained consent.

• To assist with the delivery of Health briefings.

• Perform duties within the scope of professional practice to contribute to the smooth running of the clinics

Because patient has approached you to have an evaluation of his health before travel is to know him/her travel health nurses assess the potential travelers health and their destination risks in order to implement a plan of preventive care that can include immunizations and travel medications and supplies and also travel health nurse can identify potential problems and she can plan and prevent the further hazards and other responsibilities have mentioned above.
