A susceptible host may be elderly, have HIV, or be undergoing chemotherapy, but we can still reduce host susceptibility by focusing on employee health and chemoprophylasis. List five vaccinations that might help you decrease the risk of transmitting an HAI.
Answer:
Healthcare Associated Infections (HAI) defines as the people get infected while they recieves healthcare treatment for other disease condition. HAI include both bacterial and viral infections and patient can get infect in Intensive care units sometimes.
-- Mainly healthcare associated Respiratory viral infections are high compared to others. The common Healthcare Associated Infections (HAI) are Central line associated bloodstream infections, Catheter- associated Urinary tract infections, Select surgical site infections, Hospital- onset Clostridium difficile infections, hospital onset methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus bacterial infections. Patients with HAIs has increased mortality risk than without those infections.
--Vaccinations shows positive impact in reducing Healthcare Associated Infections (HAI) and also reducing antimicrobial resistance.
1.Staphylococcus aureus vaccination:
the bacterial infection is due to methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus MRSA is treated by this vaccine and there is a chance to increase risk of transmission of MRSA in participants like nurses who works in healthcare setting . The healthcare workers should be vaccinated with Staphylococcus aureus vaccination to prevent transmission from healthcare workers to patients.
2.Clostridium difficile vaccination:
it is the First vaccine licensed for preventing transmission of Healthcare Associated Infections (HAI) . Clostridium difficile vaccination should be given to people who are at risk for Clostridium difficile infection include those
--patients who receives anti microbial therapy for previous 3 months ,
--persons who receive multiple antimicrobial agents,
--people who 65 years of age and in older people,
--those with severe underlying illness has immunocompromise, in patient with Gastrointestinal conditions,
--patients who stays in intensive care unit, and in prolonged hospitalised patients.
3.Streptococcus pneumoniae vaccination:
This vacccine should be used to treat patients with pneumococcal infection. in this the infection is nosocomial transmitted through patients in the healthcare.
4. Influenza vaccination :
This vaccine should be given for nurses who works in the healthcare beacuse they are at greater risk of developing infection and they are at risk of transmitting influenza to their patients.
5. Rotavirus vaccination:
The Rotavirus is most important resason for Healthcare Associated Infections (HAI) and rotavirus is reason in many healthcare associated Gastroenteritis cases in hospital. Rotavirus vaccination helps in the reduction of transmitting community acquired rotavirus gastroenteritis and also reduction on the healthcare associated rotavirus gastroenteritis.
