What do you mean by intelligence.How do psychologists characterise intelligence.
For psychologists intelligence is the key parameter that shows how individuals differ from one another. The attributes noticed in an intelligent person are mental alertness, ready wit, quickness in learning, and ability to understand relationships.
As per Oxford dictionary, intelligence is defined as the power of percriving, learning, understanding, and knowing.
As per Alfred Binet the first psychologists who worked on intelligence, defines intelligence as the ability to judge well, and reason.
Wechsler psychologists defined intelligence as the global and aggregate capacity of an individual to think rationally, act purposefully and deal effectively with her/his environment.
Gardner and Sternberg psychologists says that an intelligent individual not only adapts to the environment, but also actively modifies or shapes it.
