Windows and macOS both include a number of features and utilities designed for users with special needs. You are to discuss these operating system features and utilities designed for users with special needs. Here are a few questions to begin the discussion 1) Which OS (Windows or mac) is the best selection for a person with special needs? Why? 2) Can you think of any areas that have not been addressed by this assistive technology? 3) Are there any other software choices from third-party developers that would be useful to a person with special needs?
1) Which OS (Windows or mac) is the best selection for a person with special needs? Why?
When we look at both os they give some features and utilities for users with special needs like ,
Screen magnifiers,Alternative keyboard, sound volume, notification ,Text-to-speach,toggle key, filter key, stikey key etc. But in My opinion Windows is the best selection for a person with special needs because Microsoft developed a standard by which applications could effectively communicate with assistive technologies. This standard, called Microsoft® Active Accessibility® (MSAA), has been available since Windows 95 and on other hand MAC started addressing assistive technology with the release of MAC os X ,and Microsoft working on these technologies and they have integrated it with every version of WIN and with WIN X it became more simple to acess these technologies ,one reason to choose WINdows is its developer community is huge in compare to any other operating system.
2) Can you think of any areas that have not been addressed by this assistive technology?
Assistive technology must be considered for all student based on their unique need instead of a generalised version of solution which sometimes does not provide complet help.for example there is very little attention give to student with learning disabilities ,mild intellectual disabilities, and behavioral disorders.
3) Are there any other software choices from third-party developers that would be useful to a person with special needs?
Yes there are some choices from other third party developer like LINUX ,but its a open source and mostly it follows the footstep of WINDOWS and MAC when it come to assistive technology and some case it lag behind , some new technology can be consider because world is moving day by toward more mobile based rather than PC ,google and developer on android also providing solution for people with special need's day to days problem.
