Endotherms are the group of organisms which maintain a constant range body temperature and usually does does not alter with the temperature of the surroundings. The heat is generally produced within the organisms.
Option a is correct because the metabolic enzymes work efficiently at an optimum range of temperature. An increase or decrease in temperature will make the enzymes inefficient and hence the metabolic process will be hindered.
Option b is incorrect the body temperature is maintained for the proper functioning of enzymes and not essentially a prime factor for pH control.Because both endotherms and ectotherms maintain their body pH and not much variation is usually observed.
Option c is incorrect because it is ectotherms that can tolerate a wide range of temperature and not endotherms.
Option d is incorrect because the ability to sleep properly cannot be considered as the reason behind the maintaining of a constant range of body temperature . Temeparure maintaining is associated with the proper metabolism. Also, usually the metabolic rates are usually reduced during sleep.
Therefore, option a is the right answer.
