Discuss the concept of the work package as an insurance policy. How is it an insurance policy, and what might it contain that would make it an insurance policy?
Work package :-
Work package is a group of tasks which is being completed by the task managers to determine the ways by which project tasks would be scheduled with the start and finish dates. Work package is much like insurance policy. The work package manager needs to complete the task within the scheduled budget, time and available resources.
How it is an insurance policy :-
It is like an insurance policy as the work package is being used as a document of important information. It has all the details of project task, critical paths and all the details which must be needed to complete a task. So, if the task manager may not be available for some reason then other task managers can take over the work without much delay in the entire project. As every detail is given in the package so it would not take much time to do other people's work. So, due to the work package, the project can get a safeguard as it would not be delayed much from schedule. This is why it is called as insurance policy.
What it contains :-
Due to the increase in the popularity, work package has become the base of most of the projects. In basic form it is actually a to-do-list. It mainly describes all the details of the tasks which are needed to complete for the fulfillment of the project. It consists of several tasks and those tasks are needed to be done in a sequencial order form. It also consist of a network diagram that describes all the tasks and thus provides safeguard to all the information.
