The Galvanometer
1) why would it be advantageous to measure miniscule measure levels
of current?
2) what kind of measurement issues could you have using the galvanometer?
3) How could you damage your galvanometer and how to avoid?
1)IT is better than ammeter because ammeter measures
only gives reading but galavanametr shows deflection i.e direction
of current.
Basically it is used in circuit bridge type
experiments
2)We can find the currents and voltages are found by using galvanameter.
for measuring current ,the resistances are connected in series and for voltages we connect the resistance in parallel.
For additional information ........Sensitive galvanometers were used to detect signals from long submarine cables, and to discover the electrical activity of the heart and brain. Some galvanometers use a solid pointer on a scale to show measurements, other very sensitive types use a miniature mirror and a beam of light to provide mechanical amplification of low level signals
3)Whe large amounts of currents are passed through the
galvanameter then galvanameter would
damage.
To avoid this we need to connect the a shunt(large resistance) resistance in series with it.
