Provide a detailed description of the theory of Luminescence spectroscopy and explain (in general terms) how it used in the field of physical chemistry.
Luminescence spectroscopy are emission spectroscopy it’s two types
1 Fluorescence (Non-radiativetransitions intervene)
The emission of light energy when the molecules returns from the excited singlet state to ground state single is known as Fluorescence
2 Phosphorescence (Non-radiative transitions intervene)
The emission of light energy when the molecules returns from the excited triplet state to ground state single is known as Fluorescence
Internal conversion(IC)
Internal conversion is the radiationless transition between energy states of the same spin state
Intersystem crossing (ISC)
Intersystem crossing is a radiationless transition between different spin states
Luminescence spectroscopy uses in physical chemistry
Quantum Yield calculation in organic compound and complex
ratio of the number of molecules that luminesce to the total number of excited molecules
