Consider the programmability aspect of erasable non-volatile EEPLDs. Name and fully describe the electronic technology and method used to program and erase this device.
EEPLD (Electrically erasable programmable logic device) can be erased to it's orignal state using a technology - "floating-gate MOS".
PFB attached image of a floating-gate MOS transistors. It has 2 gates. The floating gate is unconnected and is surrounded by extremely high-impedance insulating material. In the orignal, manufactured state, the floating gate has no charge on it and has no effect on circuit operation. In this state, all transistors are effectively "connected"; that is there is a logical link present at every crosspoint in the AND or OR planes.
The floating gates in an EEPLD are surrounded by an extremely thin insulating layer and can be erased by applying a voltage of the opposite polarity as the charging voltage to the nonfloating gate. Thus, the same piece of equipment that is normally used to program a PLD can also be used to erase an EEPLD before programming it.
