The speech by Franklin Roosevelt addressed vital issues that are relevant to the economic development US. Roosevelt's speech majored on the importance of investment in economic opportunity, social security, employment, and a functional health care system. Roosevelt related the human right to economic security and believed that this would translate to economic development in the future. The four freedoms were; freedom of speech, worship, freedom from want, and freedom from fear; these were to be enjoyed by people in all the corners of the world (Engel & Jeffrey, 2015). The freedom from fear was aimed at enhancing the worldwide reduced acquisition of the armaments to ensure none of the nations would threaten their neighbors via physical aggression.
The freedom from want meant that economic understanding in which all nations would secure a peaceful environment for their residents everywhere in the world. The first freedom of speech meant individuals had all the right to air their grievances without intimidation. In contrast, the release of worship allowed inhabitants in a nation to practice the religion of their choice. The four freedoms by Roosevelt were essential since they addressed the basics of daily living. The respect and freedoms of the individuals in enjoying their rights create an advancing and peaceful society. Roosevelt viewed freedom as granting the free will by the inhabitants of the nations to exercise their freedoms with minimal interruption. He also aimed at creating a just society that was economically stable via the exercise of the freedoms addressed.
