According to McClelland theory the three manifest needs are:

  • Need for Achievement: This need manifest to focus upon the achievement of goals ,the person pursues his / her goals passionately with full dedication and enthusiasm.The individuals belonging to this group like new challenges and heights in achievement of their goals and aims.
  • Need for affiliation: The individuals seek liking and acceptance of the people with whom they interact in this type of need.They like to establish harmonious and cordial relationship during the interaction with others.
  • Need for control: The type of need manifested here is control.The people who wants to control the people and circumstances can be categorized in this category.

Excelling in class performance is an example of Achievement need.

Becoming a popular student among teachers and class is an example of Affiliation need.
