List as many ingredients as you can that are suitable for dissolving hydrophobic organic drugs for use in intra-muscular injections.
Hydrophobic drugs have poor solubility in water. This drugs are not always soluble in different organic solvents.
The dissolution of solute in solvent(solubility ) produces a homogeneous system which helps to produce a desirable pharmacological action of that particular medicine. Therefore low solubility is a major problem. Various techniques and technologies are used for increasing the solubility of hydrophobic drugs. That are listed below:
1. pH modifiers
2. Hydrophilic surfactants
3. Cosolvents in conjunction with surfactants and pH modifiers
E.g : Glycerin, PEG 300, PEG 400, Polysorbate 80, Propylene glycol
4. Carriers using solid dispersion technology
E.g: HPMC, PVP, PEG
5. Polymeric micelles
E.g: Genexol-PM, Estrasob
6. Inclusion complexation
E.g: Cyclodextrins
7. Solid lipid nanoparticles (SLN)
E.g: Monostearin, stearic acid, oleic acid, triluarin
8. Liposomes and proliposomes
E.g: Mikasome, Ventas
9. Microemulsiions and self emulsifying drug delivery systems :
E.g: Liple, vitalipid, diazemuls
