Question 1 options:
|
Explanation =
1.Glycolysis = is the anabolic processin which 6 carbon sugar that is glucose is converted into pyruvate.in this pathway there is pay off of 2 molecules ATP.
2.Fermentation = permits continue of glycolysis under anaerobic condition.after the glycolysis there is formation of pyruvate.it undergoes anaerobic fermentation to give ethanol and carbon dioxide.
3.Pyruvate oxidation = continues to break down 3C sugars for later steps, with a small energy payoff. pyruvate undergoes oxidation to gives acetyl CoA.
4.Citric acid cycle = acetyl CoA undergoes oxidation through citric acid cycle, yield main source of electron carriers such as NADH and FADH2. with carbon dioxide and water as byproducts.
5.Electron transport chain = is main source of ATP. there is generation of proton pump by flow of electrons. electrons are from NADH & FADH2.
