what happens for the oxygen to convert to carbon dioxide
Assuming that this is related to cellular respiration., we breath in oxygen and breath out carbon dioxide. That is we breath in air containing lots of oxygen but only a little carbon dioxide and breath out air containing lots of carbon dioxide and less amount of oxygen than before. This is called respiration. When we respire, the oxygen in the air is absorbed into the blood by diffusion at alveoli of lungs. And from there, the carbon dioxide is diffused back into air and we breath out this air containing carbon dioxide.
The oxygen thus absorbed is carried by haemoglobin in the blood to various cells of the body. And using this oxygen, cellular respiration occures which combine oxygen with food molecules and produces carbon dioxide. In cellular respiration, glucose and oxygen are turned into water, carbon dioxide and energy. The chemical equation is given below.
C6H12O6 + 6O2 ---> 6CO2 + 6H2O + ATP
This carbon dioxide is the waste and is eliminated through breathing out.
