Expert Solution

In my opinion, if I consult the historical data of democracy, it indicates that the world is becoming more democratic. Both the number of democratic countries and the population living in democracies have increased dramatically in the past seventy years - with mainly noticeable increases after World War-2 and after the collapse of the Eastern Block. The Economist Intelligence Unit’s (EIU) latest democracy index indicates nearly 72 countries experienced a decline in democratic values last year; however the many countries that were earlier bastions of authoritarian repression just a few decades ago are democracies now. With the development of technology and globalization, people can access more information than before even in rural areas, thus enjoys the political, social and economic equality. Furthermore the rapid grow of media makes citizens become more dialectical for their rights.
