Is religion growing in the world, becoming more popular or is it diminishing
Religion as a value is decreasing in the current day and age,
but the concepts of religion are still applicable in the sense that
individuals have converted from a religion of faith to one that
revolves around technology. Religion will always be popular, even
when the population that follows one is diminishing and it can be
considered due to the understanding of how it brings people
together, in a bond of friendship and camaraderie. Since the
invention of the internet and that of mobile computing, individuals
have grown distant from one another, enjoying more in a reality
created by one’s virtual self, than the reality itself, making it
so that people are less likely to communicate to each other
physically and therefore, lack the emotional concept to form an
interpersonal relationship with one another. This change in
attitude has also caused people to question their earlier beliefs
and find newer meaning to life and seek answers from the universe
through the consideration of the internet. It does not mean that we
do not believe in God or the teachings that were given to us by the
people that believed, but, it does mean that it is getting
increasingly hard to get the newer generations to have a belief in
a higher power that they cannot see or perceive. And, this is why,
even with religion being as popular as it once was, it is declining
in the number of followers throughout.
