• Current PLT is 5.05 hr

• CVA time 19 min

• Management has requested a PCETarget of 50%

• 7 days per week, 20.5 hours per day

Answer the following questions:

1. What should my WIP cap (in trucks) be?

2. How many trucks should be unloaded before new trucks are accepted into the process?

Solutions

Expert Solution

1.

        WIP =PLT Exit rate

Exit Rate = avg truck /week *1/ Days/week* 1/ hours/day

                 = 1420*1/7*1/20.5

Exit Rate = 9.8955 trucks /hours

PLT = 5.05 hr (Given )

there fore WIP = 5.05 *9.8955

                           = 49.97 trucks

WIP ( IN TRUCKS ) =50 trucks

2.

10 Trucks should be unloaded befor accepting new trucks because the process is able to output 10 trucks in an hour.
