Ingrid looks after her elderly aunt, who lives two hours’ drive away. Every Monday and Thursday, Ingrid drives to her aunt’s house, and spends the day with her, preparing meals, taking her to appointments and taking her on outings. She helps clean, maintain and organise her house, and just spends time with her. Her aunt, Seija, is 80, and has dementia. Generally, she is in good spirits, but she has difficult periods when she feels depressed and disorientated. Ingrid finds these days draining. Ingrid is happy to help her aunt, but after three or more years of being the sole carer for her aunt, she is beginning to feel the toll. Ingrid wants to study her masters in psychology, and asks her sister Maria to help with some of the care. Maria says she is too busy. Ingrid becomes more and more resentful. When Seija is having a bad day, Ingrid has little patience, and often leaves again after a couple of hours. She’s irritable at home and feels down a lot of the time. Her friends are concerned for her.

dementia is aged probelm. it affects at any age. it affects people. they cannot perform daily activities, behaviour problem occurs, moreover it affect 5 senses such as taste, touch,hearing,smell,vision. they need support to care themselves

1. Seija aged 80 years has been diagnosed to have dementia. Dementia affects not only thinking but also behavior and senses. She has a niece, named Ingrid who   travels   two hours every Monday and Thursday to reach seija house. Ingrid has been   taking care of her aunt home such as cleaning her home and organizing her home and preparing meals for her along with fixing appointment and taking her for outings. two main impact on Ingrid is taking care of her aunt’ s activities daily living and household work.

2. As seija has been suffering from dementia. She has difficulty in thinking, behavior, ability to do the everyday activities. She sometimes disoriented and depressed. Additionally, her senses get affected due to dementia. Seija has need help to take care self and helping in home such as the preparation of meals, arranging home ,fixing appointment and taking outing. Even though Ingrid wants to serve her, she felt tired to take care her aunt after 3years of continued care of aunt. She needs some support to take care her aunt. Moreover, Ingrid planned to study psychology. Ingrid sister rejected to provide care to her aunt. Caregivers has imbalance of caring her aunt and caring own life.

3. There are some support services which can provide support to Ingrid and seija. Dementia day care center and respite care center. Home and community care program that support the dementia people by assisting activities of daily living, respite care, social opportunities and information and counseling.
