Mechanical solidarity c neb defined as the social integration of different members of a society or community who share common values and believes. With the help of these mutually shared values and beliefs, a “collective conscience” is developed which is operated internally in different members which induce the corporation among them.

Gemeinschaft and Gesellschaft can be seen as idealistic social organizations which were described systematically by German sociologist Ferdinand Tönnies in his influential work Gemeinschaft und Gesellschaft

Gemeinschaft menas communal society) and the Gesellschaft referred to associational society.

In case of Gemeinschaft, traditional social rules govern and regulates the personal relationships among the members. The members will be possessing the simple and direct face to face relations with each other which are determined by Wesenwille (natural will)—i.e., natural and impulsively rising emotions and expressions of sentiment.

On the other hand, Gesellschaft is mainly developed from Kürwille (rational will) and it is characterized as modern, cosmopolitan societies having their own government bureaucracies and large industrial organizations. In these types of societies, rational self-interest and calculating conduct result in weakening of conventional relationship and bonds of family, kinship, and religion which supports Gemeinschaft’s structure. I this community, there is a more impersonal and indirect relationship between the members and thee are based on rationality in the interest of efficiency and different types of political and economic factors.

Organic solidarity can be seen as a social unity which depends upon the labor division which results from the interdependence of different community members. This is opposite to mechanical solidarity. This concept described the different binding forces which combine technologically advanced, industrialized societies together.
