Areas that should be involved in the training are as follows:

1. Company Policies : Training should aim at providing insight into the company’s policies and procedures. This includes giving the information about company’s rules and regulations, its organizational structure, management, etc. It makes participants familiar with the company.

2. Building Teams : Every organisation works as a team and it is essential to build team spirit and encourage cooperation among the team members. Training must focus on the importance of team building that would enable to create productive work environment.

3. Goal – Oriented : The goals and objectives of the company should be clearly described to the participants so that they could direct their efforts and actions towards achieving those goals. Training should focus on making these goals understandable to the participants and should guide them along the path to realise these goals.

4. Time Management : Training should focus on the need and importance of time management while working so as to achieve efficiency in the work. This would enable company to avoid loss of resources.

5. Skill Training : This area of training is focussed on imparting knowledge and train the skills of the participants so that they could become effective in the job. Technical and basic skills and knowledge is to be provided. Skill Training differs for the different employees at different levels and training should be conducted keeping in view the different and diversified needs.

6. Problem – Solving : It is the most important area of training as problems are the part and parcel of the business. Participants should be made familiar with day to day problems that they may face and should be prepared for handling the same. Exchange of ideas and information plays an important role in developing one’s problem-solving traits.

Examples of Training:

1. Formal Training : It is also known as classroom training as it is given in lecture style. Generally, an expert provides this training in a classroom and explains the concepts to the participants. It gives an opportunity to the participants to clear their doubts by participating in the session.

2. On the job training : Unlike formal training, it is focussed on providing practical experience and knowledge. In the participants learn about the job by actually performing the job under the guidance and supervision of technical expert.

Participant Needs that should be taken into account:

1. Scope for Interactive Session : Training should be two way and should have scope for interaction so that participants could get their doubts clear. It should give them the right to ask questions and clear their doubts.

2. Scope for learning : Participants should be able to gain learning from the training rather that just being delivered by a lecture. This will motivate them to attend more trainings and would help them to learn new techniques and develop their skill sets.

3. Motivational : Participants expect the training to be motivational and inspiring and this can be done only be designing the training according to the requirements of the participants.
