What are the differnt types of plaque?
Plaque can be classified into three different categories depending upon its location -
1 :- when plaque is on gum line (subgingival or supragingival) - Subgingival plaque is plaque that is located under the gums. It occurs after the formation of the supragingival biofilm by a downward growth of the bacteria from above the gums to below. This plaque is mostly made up of anaerobic bacteria. As this plaque attaches in a pocket under the gums, they are not exposed to oxygen in the mouth and will therefore thrive if not removed.
2 :- when plaque is on tooth surface (attached or unattached)-
this plaque gets developed on either both or one side of teeth surface.
3 :- when it's associate to any dental health/ dental condition (health associated) -
there are various health conditions/ disease which give arise to plaque formation.
