In a 2-3 page document, explain to the patient and family how children and teenagers can use inhaler to assist in the self-management of ASTHMA, while answering the below questions:
1) The type of inhaler a child can use depend on the age of the child. INFANTS and TODDLER: if they are up to three years they use nebilizer. The nebilizer breaks liquid medication into small particles for easy inhaling.Nebulizer can also be used with a mouth piece for small children . Method: The correct medication is added to the nebilizer cup., connect the tubling to the machine then turn it on. The mask is placed over the child's nose and mouth making sure it's well fitted and comfortable ,the child breath normally until all the medication leaves the nebilizer. AGES 4-9:. Children within this age range will use MDI with a spacer. These children no longer need mask.However the doctor prescribed the best option for the child . Cannister and plastic holder is used for these age groups just as described above . MDI is activated ,then the child breath in slowly and deeply,then holds these breath in his lungs for 5_10 seconds , breath out ,and then with the mouth piece still in place ,the child should breath deeply and hold his breath again to get the best result from the medication. Child above 9 - teenager. : These children are marture enough to use standard metre -dose inhaler or dry powder inhaler.The child holds the inhaler two inches from his open mouth or he can put the inhaler in the mouth directly with the lips open. As the cannister is pressed down to release the medicine ,the child should breath slowly ,inhale in some seconds ,then holds breath for up to 10 seconds. The dry powder inhaler should be put in the mouth around the mouth piece and inhale quickly and deeply as well. 1b) The assistance of parent or guardian is needed in the use of asthma inhaler. 2. Asthma is not curable,but by following an asthma action plan symptoms can be placed under control. 2b) No, asthma inhaler varies with the age of the child. 3) The medication that provides quick relief are given to patient with persistent asthma. Such medication includes leukotriene modifier, cromolyn, inhaled corticosteroids, these helps to relax the muscles and tighten around the airways . thereby making breathing easy for patient. 3b) some program have help to complement medical care.example includes better social adjustment, decrease the unscheduled health care.etc. these programs enhances relationship between patient and doctors also the integration of health Education medical treatment can provide a medically appropriate plan of health.
