This week, we are going to discuss individual rights by doing the following:
WOMEN IN LABOR ACT
Labor act in particular, prohibits any form of child labor,
forced labor, or discrimination or sexual
harassment in the workplace. The Act also provides for
basic conditions of employment to whichan employer must adhere,
including maternity leave for female employees.
The Equal Pay Act further abolished wage disparity based on
sex.
Women have come along way in the workplace, but discrimination and
unfair treatment still do happen. Part of protecting yourself is
being educated about current laws and female rights in the
workplace so you can make sure you are being treated fairly.
Preventing child labor changed the lives of mothers throughout the
nation for better.
Before The Pregnancy Discrimination Act, many buissnesses simply
laid off or fired women women when they were pregnant. Companies
can no longer discriminate against hiring or continued employment
based on pregnancy.
That there is an Equal Pay Act may come as a bit of a surprise to
some women who still earn 80 cents per dollar that men earn. This
act requires companies to pay women the same amount they would pay
men for doing the same job, but it seems clear that's a goal still
on the horizon. Considering the wage gap in U.S., there is still
work to be done. However, this act was a big step towards making
sure men and women are paid equally.
The Prohibition of Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act provides an outline about employer's requirement to develop a complaint mechanism. This involves establishment of Internal Complaints Committee(ICC). As a result, the accused person faces a potentially significant financial loss if found liable by the ICC.
Rights of Working Women in Factories states that Women must have separate toilets and washrooms with doors. Women cannot be made to lift more than the proscribed weight.
Winning rights for women is about more than giving opportunities to any individual woman or girl; it is also about changing how countries and communities work. It also involves changing law and policies, winning hearts and minds, and investing in strong women's organisations and move.
